Rich Cultural Experience

The Bafumbira and Batwa cultures are the most diverse and unique in the greater Kigezi region. From time immemorial, the constant display of creativity in Art, Music, Dance and Drama have labeled the two cultures as better among the good. The Batwa specifically have for centuries been great instrumentalists, Vocalists and composers while the Bafumbira have mastered the art of Kifumbira dance, a very unique style that portrays their strength and craft. Some people have gone on to disclaim this dance as one that should not be attempted by a hungry fellow due to the energy and vigor it takes to jump as high as one’s legs can.

Blend into the Community

In our homestay activity, let you share part of the life and work of a Ugandan family, make new friends in the family and the community and take part in a community initiative, if you wish. As opposed to visiting a cultural village, which focuses on traditional Bafumbira/Kinyarwanda culture, this immersion will give you the opportunity to experience, first hand, many of the values of Uganda culture Bafumbira to be specific, as they are lived and practiced today. You will also be given a Rufumbira name and learn to say a few elementary sentences like different greetings in the language spoken around you, thus helping you to connect more easily with your community. Ain’t that awesome!!!!!

The primary goal of our homestays is to create inspiring opportunities for indigenous communities in Kisoro to share their lives with people from different cultures, in ways that generates some income while upholding their personal and cultural and these homestay visits are mutually enriching.
